If you're looking for a light, healthy and flavour-packed seafood recipe, these oregano and lemon barbecued sea bass fillets are an excellent choice. Combining the delicate flavour of sea bass with fragrant oregano and zesty lemon creates a simple Mediterranean-inspired dish that's perfect for everything from relaxed family dinners to summer barbecues with friends.
Sea bass is prized for its firm yet flaky texture and mild, slightly sweet flavour, making it one of the easiest fish to cook on the barbecue. The skin crisps beautifully over the heat while the flesh stays moist and tender. A simple marinade of olive oil, oregano and lemon enhances the fish without overpowering it, allowing the natural flavour of the sea bass to shine.
One of the best things about this recipe is its versatility. Although designed for barbecuing outdoors, the same marinade works perfectly if you prefer to cook the fish in the oven, on a griddle pan or in the air fryer. With a cooking time of less than 15 minutes, it's an ideal option for busy weeknights as well as summer entertaining.
Serve the sea bass alongside crushed potatoes, a crisp Greek salad, or Greek rice with spinach for a complete Mediterranean-inspired meal. A spoonful of garlic aioli, herb yoghurt or salsa verde also makes a delicious accompaniment.
Whether you're an experienced seafood cook or trying sea bass for the first time, this recipe delivers fresh, vibrant flavours with minimal preparation. It's proof that a handful of quality ingredients is all you need to create a restaurant-quality fish dish at home.
