These crispy sweet potato wedges are a simple and delicious side dish that's easy to make at home. Roasted in the oven until golden and caramelised, they have a crispy outside and a soft, fluffy centre.

Seasoned with smoked paprika and roasted to perfection, these wedges are perfect alongside burgers, grilled chicken, or as a snack with your favourite dip.

The original recipe appeared in the June 2023 Asda magazine, served along with their big bite burger.

The smoky paprika seasoning balances well with the sweetness of the potatoes... they're very moreish!!

Tips

  • Optional variations:
    • Spicy sweet potato wedges - add chilli powder or cayenne pepper.
    • Garlic and herb wedges - add garlic powder, rosemary and thyme.
    • Parmesan sweet potato wedges - sprinkle grated parmesan over the wedges before baking.
    • Air fryer sweet potato wedges - cook at 200C for 15 to 18 minutes, shaking halfway through.
  • This sweet potato wedges recipe can easily be adapted if you're cooking for less or more people.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do you make sweet potato wedges crispy?

Use high heat, spread the wedges out on the tray and turn them halfway through cooking to ensure even crisping.

Do you need to soak sweet potatoes before baking?

Soaking isn't essential for wedges, but it can help remove excess starch and improve crispness.

Should you peel sweet potatoes for wedges?

No - the skin adds texture and flavour, but you can peel them if you prefer.

Are sweet potato wedges healthier than fries?

Yes - when oven baked, sweet potato wedges contain less oil and provide fibre, vitamins and antioxidants.

Can you reheat sweet potato wedges?

Yes - reheat them in the oven or air fryer to restore crispness.
